Lauren Rajakovich

Lauren joined the Balskus lab as a postdoc in the summer of 2017 after obtaining her Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Microbiology & Molecular Biology from Pennsylvania State University. As a graduate student in the laboratory of Profs. Bollinger & Krebs, Lauren used transient kinetic and spectroscopic methods to study mechanisms of diiron oxidases involved in biofuel production and microbial metabolism. In the Balskus lab, Lauren is excited to explore metabolic functions of bacteria that colonize the human gut and to discover how microbial chemistry has an impact on host health. She spends her free time these days enjoying her patio, reading, cooking, and exploring Boston.
