Samantha Cassell

Sam is a third year graduate student in Chemistry and Chemical Biology studying novel halogenases involved in the production of cyanobacterial natural products. Expanding our knowledge of interesting enzymatic chemistry enables the production of better synthetic catalysts, new biocatalysts, and a more complete understanding of nature's chemical "toolbox." As such, Sam is broadly interested in discovering, understanding, and manipulaing unusual enzymatic chemistry. Outisde of lab, she enjoys cooking, crosswords and brain teasers, and relaxing with video games in the evenings.
