Martin Daniel-Ivad

Martin joined the Balskus Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in 2020 after completing his Ph.D. with Prof. Justin Nodwell at the University of Toronto (Canada). His graduate research focused on how to utilize pleiotropic regulatory systems in Streptomyces to induce the production of cryptic/silent natural products and describing the multiple roles bacterial metabolites can fill in the environment. Currently he is focused on continuing his natural product discovery efforts exploring the biosynthetic capacity of the human microbiome and building chemo-enzymatic diversification platforms to identify new antibacterial agents.
